Is anybody thinking of a less warm yarn than alpaca? I live in California, so an alpaca sweater is something I would wear only when I travel to a colder climate.

Silk? Cotton? Maybe just do a search for fingering weight yarn and see what comes up?

What about a blend? Wool & cotton or Merino & silk. I guess I worry about whether there is some elasticity in the yarn & you don't want something that will stretch out of shape.
